Your kids will love Seattle if you know where to take them. You’re about to find out what the best and most interesting places for kids in this city are!
Formerly known as “Jet City,” there is practically no limit of opportunities to see planes when here in Seattle. You could go to Lake Union Park and admire the sea planes or visit the Museum of Flight, which is fun for visitors of all ages. There, you’ll see the original Air Force One, a Concorde, the first 747 ever built, bombers, and fighters.
These tours are a great way to get to know the city. You’ll find out where to shop, what to see, and what to eat. On that note, kids love the Chocolate Indulgence Tour. It takes place in and around Pike Place Market (more on that later). Your kids will enjoy hot chocolate, cupcakes, cheesecake, and/or the local specialty – salted caramels. It’s up to you how much you let them eat! They’ll also learn where and how chocolate is made.
The Seattle Aquarium
This attraction is a good stop for one and a half to two hours. It is located on the city’s amazing waterfront. Children can touch sea anemones and starfish and even see different animals during feeding time.
Pike Place Market
Under no circumstances should you miss Pike Place Market. Locals shop here despite its having become so popular with tourists. The fruit, seafood, vegetables, and flowers are well-priced and of superb quality. Remember that the market is at its best just before lunchtime.
Other interesting places for kids are the Giant Shoe Museum, the Gum Wall, Market Magic, Golden Age Collectibles, the candy shop Sweetie’s Candy, and Daily Dozen Donut Co. You could also take them to see Shug’s Soda Fountain and Beecher’s mac’n’cheese.
If you want to sit down for a proper family lunch, you could visit Steelhead Diner or Lowell.
